Micromax Canvas Infinity Pro Brief Review and Pros Cons:

Micromax, the famous Indian smartphone brand launched Micromax Canvas Infinity in August 2017 and now they have come up with Canvas Infinity Pro.  Canvas Infinity Pro looks similar to Canvas Infinity and comes with an all-metal design, built of aluminum, going full edge to edge (18:9 full view) by minimising side bezels. The build looks sturdy with a tinge of premium feel attached to it. On the front, you have a giant 5.7-inch IPS LCD display, with a resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels, 18:9 ratio accounting to a poor pixel density of ~279 PPI. On a screen that large, the low pixel density clearly shows and you’ll not be very pleased with the display. Micromax is calling it a Pro variant so we were expecting a Full HD+ display.

The Micromax Canvas Infinity was running on Snapdragon 425 with 3GB of RAM, the latest Infinity Pro runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430, backed by a 4GB of RAM. Micromax Canvas Infinity Pro comes with onboard storage of 64GB which is expandable to 128GB via MicroSD. The MicroSD slot is dedicated so you won't have to compromise with dual sim functionality of the device. The hardware is upgraded but still, it is an entry-level hardware with average performance. We are disappointed with the choice of processor for a phone which costs 14k. Snapdragon 625 should have been there instead of Snapdragon 430. Even the Xiaomi Redmi 4 has Snapdragon 435 and the cheapest variant of Redmi 4 costs 7k.

Don’t expect long gaming sessions or high-quality video playing as you may find the device struggling there. The Micromax Canvas Infinity Pro does get warm over 4G use and gaming, but thankfully not very hot. By gaming, we mean light casual gaming, as Adreno 505 can’t pull off a lot of heavyweight titles. In the benchmarks, the Micromax Canvas Infinity Pro scores around 44551 on AnTuTu benchmark. On GeekBench, the Canvas Infinity Pro scores around 2200 on the multicore test and 900 on the single core.

As far as cameras are concerned, the rear sensor on the Micromax Canvas Infinity is a 16MP sensor (f/2.0) which doesn’t appeal quite strongly. On the front, we have a dual 20MP+8MP setup.  The front camera is the USP of this device and it is pretty good. The portrait mode selfies from front camera come out sharp with accurate colors. It beautifies the face which is pretty standard these days. The flash which doubles down as torch comes to rescue in low lighting conditions. The front camera is the only the thing we like in the Canvas Infinity Pro.

The Micromax Canvas Infinity Pro comes with Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box with a cheerful 8.0 Oreo update planned soon. As for the experience, don’t get your hopes high because the device runs atop Micromax’s custom skin which is nowhere close to stock and is not very impressive. It has got very similar to other Chinese OEMs, which certainly isn’t helping. The smartphone comes with a ton of useless apps which can’t be deleted so cheers to that.

On the battery department, the Micromax Canvas Infinity Pro fails to impress because of the  3000 mAH battery for a smartphone of this size. We wonder, what Micromax has packed inside this phone if not battery. The battery life is not optimum, expect it to be put to charging at least once in the working day, If you use your phone very much, else it should comfortably last a day on average use.  Micromax Canvas Infinity Pro does not have any IP ratings which means it is not waterproof or dustproof. so keep it fairly distant from liquids and dust.

Canvas Infinity offers decent worth given its price, It's not the most competent smartphone in the segment but surely is worth considering, If you can look behind its cons. It has got the most modern look with minimal bezels and is exquisite on the outside. We would have been very pleased it the same could be said about insides of the Canvas Infinity.

Overall, Micromax Canvas Infinity is an decent smartphone with a good front selfie camera. If selfie is your priority then you should consider this device and if you are going to play games and use a lot of apps then you should skip it. We think Honor 9i is a much better option because of it's dual camera on front and back and a nice Full HD Display. Check out the review of Honor 9i.

Should you buy Micromax Canvas Infinity Pro?

Micromax Canvas Infinity Pro does not look exciting to us. The only reason to buy this device is the dual front camera. Rest everything is average. We think Honor 9i is a much better option.
